About Marco
Marco is running for the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives to serve the residents of District 30, which includes Shaler, O’Hara, Hampton, Fox Chapel and Richland.
Marco was raised by a single mother and his two older sisters. Marco's family faced many financial challenges while he was growing up; they were even homeless and spent summer living in a Women’s Crisis Center shelter. From these experiences, Marco learned the role we as a community play in protecting our most vulnerable, and the value of hard work in overcoming challenges.
Marco signed up for the Navy at age 17 and left for boot camp the day after he graduated high school. He served in the Seabees, the Navy’s building and construction force. Marco is a first-generation college graduate; he started taking community college classes at night while in the Navy and finished his degree at Allegheny College. After he graduated, Marco served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at a faith-based nonprofit, The Pittsburgh Project, where he did free home repairs for low-income seniors. Marco attended Pitt Law and worked in the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office before opening his own law office. Marco has worked as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney so he’s seen the law from both sides of a courtroom and he regularly does pro bono work for fellow veterans and others in need.
Marco has served on the board of Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard, a nonprofit that serves homeless veterans and is an advisory board member with Message Carriers of Pennsylvania, which is an organization that is committed to combating the opioid epidemic. Additionally, Marco has served as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh.
Marco is a proud member of a union family. While working as an A.D.A., he was a union member organized with the United Steelworkers (USW), his wife is a current member of the USW, and his father, who is retired and on a fixed income, relies on a USW pension to help make ends meet. Marco and his wife, Megan Sasinoski, live in O’Hara with their son William and their dog Martin.
